METEOR™ Fog Machine FAQs

What is a Fog Machine?
A fog machine, sometimes called a smoke machine, is a device which generates a dense vapor, with the appearance of smoke or fog. Fog machines have a wide variety of uses, including theatrical applications, where they can be used to create a spooky atmosphere and nightclub use, where they can enhance your light show by making the beams visible in the air. Fog machines are also used in industry, where they can help visualize the flow of air, for example, in a wind tunnel. As the technology has improved, prices for these machines have fallen, and this combined with Meteor's commitment to sell directly to the consumer has made fog machines easily affordable for the home market.

How do they Work?
Fog machines work by rapidly heating a special fluid in a chamber, which evaporates quickly forcing it out of the exit, then condenses upon contact with the colder air, forming a dense vapor. Our fog machines can be operated remotely, using a wireless controller, releasing a thick cloud of fog at the push of a button.

Are they Safe?
All our fog machines use a totally harmless glycol-based fluid which has been chemically tested to insure it is perfectly safe to the skin and respiratory system. Our fog is chemically inert and will not damage any furniture, fittings or electronics.

Why are Your Foggers so Cheap?
Given the low price of our machines you would be forgiven for thinking that we were selling an inferior quality product. On the contrary, we are one of the oldest names in the business and are trusted throughout the industry. Our foggers are so cheap because we are able to buy in bulk and sell directly to the consumer through this web site, keeping costs to a minimum and passing the savings on to you!

How Much Fluid do they Use?
The amount of fluid consumed is dependant on the model of machine used. Generally, our smaller machines consume very little fluid.

Can they be Used Outdoors?
Our fog machines can be used outdoors provided they are kept dry, however, wind will reduce the visibility of the fog. Our machines are recommended for indoor use.

Will the Fog Trigger Fire Alarms?
Generally, fire alarm systems work by detecting carbon, or excessive heat in the air. Since our fog machines do not produce either of these in significant quantities, it is unlikely to trigger any existing alarm systems.
